KJ Smoke Rising
2021 ApHC Fewspot Colt

We are so beyond excited to be bringing along this gorgeous Appaloosa colt for our breeding program. KJ Smoke Rising aka ''Smudge'' really is everything we were looking for in an Appaloosa colt. From the second he stepped off the trailer here, he has been nothing but personable, sane, and easy to work with. He is a barn favourite, and often the students from our riding lesson program make sure to stop by and see Smudge on their way out. He loves the attention and is gentle and good natured enough that we don't need to worry about him at all over the fence with the kids.

Conformation wise, he is already wide and strong through the haunches, with an elegant neck and beautiful, floaty movement. He is 5 panel n/n, and being a Fewspot is Homozygous for the LP gene and also carries Pattern 1. He is expected to mature around 15hh with significant width and substance.

Smudge's sire High On Believen (pictured below), is an experienced and successful competitor in reining, trail, and driving, who's bloodlines speak for themselves. Sired by High Sign Nugget, this makes the ApHC Hall of Fame stallion Smudge's grandsire. High Sign Nugget of course is the sire of numerous champion reined cowhorses, reiners and cutters. He was in particular known to pass on trainability and try in his offspring, which is still evident in Smudge today.

Smudge's dam, KJ Iron Maiden (pictured below), is a granddaughter of Dreamfinder. Dreamfinder is also in the ApHC hall of fame, having produced numerous World and National Champion horses.
